5G Valley Open Test Field
The 5G Valley Open Test Field Project,
which is conducted under the coordination of ICTA, covers the region between
ODTÜ, Bilkent and Hacettepe Universities’ campuses and ICTA Headquarters. It is
aimed to create an environment where universities, research centers, companies,
start-ups can test 5G and beyond applications and technologies and create added
value in this region. 5G Valley Open Test Field Cooperation Protocol was signed
with a ceremony held on 15 August 2017 within the scope of ICTA 17th Founding
Year Activities by Information Technologies and Communications Authority (ICTA),
Hacettepe University, İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University, Middle East Technical
University, Avea Communications Services, Turkcell Communications Services and
Vodafone Communications Services.
In the 5G Valley, it is planned to
establish an infrastructure for Research & Development, Product & Development
and tests of 5G and Beyond technologies in cooperation with ICTA, universities
and operators. The 5G Valley Executive Committee, consisting of representatives
of the parties to the protocol, has begun to work within this scope.
With regard to the establishment of the 5G Test Network Infrastructure, various negotiations on the actions that could be taken with respect to physical network, core network and its sub-components in service and application domain were held with the protocol parties and related institutions and organizations. The 5G Valley Open Test Field is also conducting studies to establish "5G and Beyond Joint Graduate Program" between universities and disciplines to contribute to the cultivation of qualified human resources that our country will need in 5G and Beyond in short, medium and long term. The program aims to produce sustainable competence on advanced communication technologies and to produce outputs in a wide variety of forms such as patents, projects, articles, spin-off companies and thesis studies.
